PCOS has had a rebrand — but unlike most rebrands, this one might actually be useful.
Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome is now known as Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome, or PMOS. It’s certainly a mouthful, but the new name paints a much more accurate picture of what’s really going on: a complex, system-wide hormonal and metabolic condition rather than simply an issue with cysts or “problem ovaries.”
Whether you’ve recently been diagnosed, have been managing PCOS for years, or are simply wondering why everyone has suddenly started calling it PMOS - this episode will bring you up to speed on what has changed, what hasn’t, and why this new name could encourage a much more helpful way of understanding and treating the condition.
