What We Traded Away | A Political Rendezvous - Ep. 177

JEWELS JONES LIVE | A POLITICAL RENDEZVOUSTea Spilling Saturdays Live @ 3PM EST | Visit: https://JewelsJonesLive.comHosted by: Jewels Jones Twenty five years on from September 11th, I am not going back over the attacks themselves. Yesterday was the day for that. Today I want to look at the aftermath, and at what we handed over in the weeks that followed. Some privacy for intelligence. Some travel convenience for safety. Some civil liberty protections for security. We were told those trades would be temporary, and most of us believed it. A quarter of a century later a great many of them are still in force, and the surveillance powers sold to us to stop the next attack were later turned on Americans for political purposes. So this week I am asking what we traded away, what we actually got for it, and what we are finally getting back.
