Australia has crowned its winner of The Voice Australia 2026 — and for the first time in the Australian series, a rapper has taken the title.

Aaron Ryan speaks with Yung Milla, the proud Marranunggu artist from Darwin, about the people, culture and experiences behind his victory. He reveals that his first thoughts after hearing his name called were of family members who had passed away and the community he wanted to make proud.

In this episode:

  • How Levi Nichaloff became Yung Milla, with the name honouring his mother and older brother J-MILLA
  • Why he chose his brother’s song All My Life for his four-chair Blind Audition
  • The pressure of proving rap belongs on The Voice stage
  • How he rebuilt Men at Work’s Down Under while respecting the original
  • Deciding which painful experiences are ready to become lyrics — and which remain private
  • Protecting his integrity, culture and connection to home as the music industry comes calling
  • What he hopes this historic win creates for people beyond his own career

Yung Milla also explains why speaking his story can help someone else and why, wherever his career takes him, his people come with him.
