Atlantic City Has a Historic Links Course Next Door | Brigantine Golf Links

Dela

Brigantine Golf Links is one of the most distinctive public golf properties in New Jersey: a historic links-style course built in 1927 as part of the island’s original master plan and designed by Wayne Stiles and John Van Kleek. Set just minutes from the tables in Atlantic City, the course blends Scottish links influence with bay views, native marshland, open terrain, sea breezes and a layout that can change every time the wind shifts. Local legend even connects Brigantine to old professionals who practiced here before sailing across the Atlantic for the British Open.

In this Course Feature, Mike sits down with General Manager Marc Kimminau to discuss the past, present and future of Brigantine Golf Links. With the City of Brigantine now directly managing the course, a long-range improvement plan underway, and major investments already made in irrigation and cart paths, there is real momentum behind the property. The feature also looks at the value, the better-than-expected conditions led by Marc and superintendent Cal Livesay, and two of the most memorable holes on the course: the demanding Par 3, 15th and the Par 4, 17th, the No. 1 handicap hole at “The Links.” For golfers looking for history, wind, strategy and public golf near the Jersey Shore, Brigantine Golf Links deserves a closer look.
