As MM progresses to relapsed/refractory MM (RRMM), the selection of an appropriate treatment regimen becomes more complex, requiring an assessment of severity, risk, and prior lines of therapy. Newer agents such as chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapies or bispecific antibody therapies may be indicated. Current treatment guidelines reflect these considerations. However, incorporating appropriate sequences into treatment algorithms and formulary positioning remains challenging for managed care professionals, and emerging agents from the pipeline further complicate assessment. Beyond pharmacotherapy, understanding the total cost of care for various MM treatment options challenges health plan administrators. This activity will help managed care professionals to understand the factors affecting the cost-effectiveness of MM treatments and the total cost of care to ensure the best patient outcomes while managing health care costs.
