Why does Kona have a Costco and not Hilo? This is a recent question that occurred to me when I visited Kona in October 2022 for the Iron Man event. Kona is a beautiful, quaint, and small tourist town. What made the most immediate, random, and impactful impression by happenstance was that there was a Costco in Kona.
