Haydn and Michael break down for the first time the actual format of the economic system that defines neoliberalism. Within this system the rising right wing of the 1980s finds themselves in the process of breaking from the Old Right led by the Rockefeller and Council on Foreign Relations set. We have our early western reactionary presidents, typified by Reagan and Nixon, but for the countries we're talking about we have much more going on. The war for the right to live rather than gaining the right to starve has begun, we see the early IMF monetarists and the rising tide of the neoliberal reaction in Chile. The examples given throughout the episode primarily hinge on Chile but largely apply to most of the governments that we will discuss, it's simply the names that are swapped out. This establishes Operation CONDOR as not just a physical terror plan implemented like GLADIO or PHOENIX, but instead as a financial and economic campaign of terror, privatization, and encirclement of the public sphere against the working class.
