How does a successful attorney go from building a thriving career to drinking six bottles of wine before 3 PM and wondering if she’ll ever be able to stop?
In this episode of the Sober Motivation Podcast, Les shares her journey through alcohol addiction, losing everything, and finding a second chance in sobriety.
Les built a successful career as a Boston attorney specializing in liquor licensing. Drinking was part of her professional and social life, but what started as a way to manage anxiety and quiet her mind gradually turned into an everyday dependence on alcohol.
As her drinking progressed, Les found herself drinking in the morning, during work, and late into the night. At the height of her alcohol addiction, she was consuming six bottles of wine before 3 PM and then moving on to hard liquor.
Her personal and professional life began to unravel. Facing criminal charges, the loss of her law career, and overwhelming shame, Les reached a point where she wasn’t sure how to move forward.
But a conversation with someone in recovery helped her begin to see another way.
Les shares what it took to quit drinking, her experience with alcohol withdrawal, finding support through Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), and how she began rebuilding her life in early sobriety.
Today, Les is the founder of Sober and Curious Boston, a growing community helping people build meaningful connections without alcohol.
This conversation explores alcoholism, daily drinking, alcohol dependence, anxiety, shame, early recovery, and finding purpose after getting sober.
Whether you’re sober curious, trying to stop drinking, or navigating life after alcohol addiction, Les’s story is a reminder that you are more than your worst decisions, and it’s never too late to make a change.
