Perfectionism has a way of sneaking into everything—even music, faith, and self-care—until the things meant to nourish us start to feel like another performance. We sit down with Erica Lee Winstead, a music teacher and founder of the Aria Sanctuary, to talk about a different way: music as a peace practice that brings you back into your body, your breath, and your connection with God. If you’ve ever felt stage fright, creative shame, or the pressure to impress, this conversation offers a gentler goal: presence.

Erica shares how her teaching evolved from technique and recitals toward mindfulness-based voice lessons and piano lessons that help students “feel” music first. We talk about turning practice into an inner experience, then learning to share that experience with others in a way that feels sacred instead of stressful. You’ll also hear a powerful story about offering music in a healing setting and how service can transform what it means to perform.

From there, we expand the toolkit: taking a nature walk with centering music, exploring chanting om and the role of pitch and vibration, and a clear explanation of Reiki as life force energy. We also name the real questions people have, including fear, skepticism, and discernment, and how intentionally inviting God into any practice can shift the entire tone.

If you’re building a more grounded rhythm of everyday life, press play, then share this with a friend who needs calmer breathing and clearer joy. Subscribe, leave a review, and tell us what practice you want to try first.
