How should neurofeedback fit into trauma treatment? Should clinicians focus on processing traumatic memories, improving nervous system regulation, or both? And how do we balance excitement about promising clinical outcomes with our ethical responsibility to present treatments realistically?

In this episode, Dr. Saul Rosenthal talks with psychologist Dr. Dedalus Hyde, founder of Pacific Neurofeedback and the Bay Area Trauma Center, as part of our 2026 NRBS Conference interview series.

Drawing on more than 40 years of clinical experience, Dedalus discusses how neurofeedback has changed his understanding of trauma, why he believes regulation and psychotherapy often work best together, and how clinicians can remain both enthusiastic and ethically grounded when introducing emerging treatments.

We also explore clinical decision-making, the importance of research and mentorship, and where he believes neurofeedback is headed over the next two decades.
