WB tried to bury this movie for a tax write-off. Fans and the director raised their voices and now Coyote vs. Acme has been unleashed! Was the rescue worth it?
This week the Boyz tackle the almost never-released Coyote vs. Acme in an early release spoiler-free episode. Filmed in 2022, pic tested through the roof but then David Zaslav's newly-merged Warner Bros. Discovery shelved it as a tax write-off in 2023, the same fate that had already erased Batgirl (terms? Never to be shown in any way shape or form after the write off). This time, fans revolted loud enough that WB shopped the finished film instead of destroying it, and Ketchup Entertainment picked it up for theatrical release.
Cupcake and WillDaBeast give you the verdict: was the fight and the fan rescue worth it? Wile E. Coyote hires personal injury lawyer Will Forte to sue the Acme Corporation for a lifetime of exploding products, and what follows is part courtroom satire, part love letter to Looney Tunes, stacked with cameos for longtime fans. With a cast including Lana Condor, John Cena, Martha Kelly, Louis Guzmán, and PJ Byrne, is this live-action/animation hybrid , in the spirit of Who Framed Roger Rabbit and Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers, the perfect end of summer screwball comedy with biting legal satire and toothy commentary about corporate overlords? Or is it a nostalgia grab. Does it work for kids who've never seen a Looney Tunes short?
