Black August Commemoration and the Black Resistance

On todays show, Black August explainers and commemoration continues. Dhoruba bin Wahad is a political activist and author, former leader of the New York Black Panther Party and co-founder of the Black Liberation Army.  He was one of the Panther 21 defendants charged in 1969 with conspiracy to attack New York City police stations. He is the author of the book “Revolution In These Times: Black Panther Party Veteran Dhoruba bin Wahad on Antifascism, Black Liberation, and a Culture of Resistance” edited by Kalonji Jama Changa. Mama Ayanna (Davis) is a longtime Oakland/South West Berkeley-based healer, activist, community advocate and cultural anchor whose work spans spiritual leadership in holistic health programs, birth, housing equity, and social justice.  She has organized to sustain revolutionary cultural practices such as Black August and is a co-founder of the Black August Organizing Committee.  Mama Ayanna believes that our resistance is sacred work. Minister King X is an “Artivist” who uses the universal language of Art & Advocacy to uplift the principles of the “Historical Society To End All Hostilities,” both inside and outside of prison.  Minister King has created his own genre of New Afrikan Political Musical!  He is the founder of K.A.G.E. Universal and the director of California Prison Focus. BLACK AUGUST Commemoration honoring the legacy of Black resistance, liberation, and collective struggle.
