FOR THE LOVE OF PILGRIMAGE
If you love the Camino, Spain, and the spiritual practice of pilgrimage, you are going to love this episode of the YOU on the Camino de Santiago podcast.
I love all those things! I also love talking with my guest this week, Chad, who has already been on the podcast several times to share about his pilgrimages on various Camino routes.
This time Chad took on the long and intimidating Via de la Plata route, which starts in Seville in the south of Spain and makes its way to Santiago over nearly 1,000 kilometers. Chad’s story is only partly about the route, though. It’s mostly about the inner journey to peace, honesty, and authenticity, spread out over some very long days.
Our conversation touched on some topics that are hard to pin down: Why are you walking the Camino, and is it important to be able to answer that question before you begin? And if you do have a reason why or an intention for the journey, how does that impact how you plan? And what does it mean to “cheat” on the Camino, and who are you cheating when you do cheat?
After Chad and I chatted for a bit, we were joined by members of our La Terraza online pilgrim community who asked some questions to take this conversation even deeper.
