When Arsenal moved to their new stadium the Emirates, the club entered a period of financial constraint and essentially became a selling club, losing a number of key players to help pay off the stadium’s cost. But what if Arsenal had never moved to the Emirates, stayed at Highbury and instead put their money into the team instead from 2004 onwards? Would Patrick Vieira be sold? Does Thierry Henry still leave for Barcelona? Would Arsene Wenger spend more in the transfer market or continue investing in youth?
