Have you considered that some of the things you believe about yourself aren't actually facts?
What if they're conclusions you came to somewhere along the way?
We all have beliefs about who we are and what we're capable of.
I'm not good enough.
My opinion doesn't matter.
I'm just not confident.
I have to keep everyone happy.
I'm not sophisticated enough.
I'm not the sort of person who...
And because some of these beliefs have been with us for years, we can forget that they were ever learned. They can start to feel like simply who we are.
But beliefs don't appear from nowhere.
They're shaped by our experiences, relationships, things people said to us, things we observed, and the meaning we made from what happened to us.
In this episode, we're exploring how those beliefs can form, how they can influence the way we see ourselves, and why questioning them can be the first step towards changing them.
