Retired NYPD Detective Sergeant Mike Codella spent more than twenty years in law enforcement, working undercover during New York City’s heroin epidemic, investigating missing persons, and surviving the collapse of the World Trade Center on September 11th.
In this episode, Mike takes us inside some of the most dangerous and unusual investigations of his career—from undercover drug operations and a $50,000 contract placed on his life to the disappearance of six-year-old Etan Patz.
That investigation took an unexpected turn in 1997 when an inmate known as Tiny contacted Mike claiming to have information connecting Etan’s disappearance to David Berkowitz, the Son of Sam. Mike shares what Tiny told him, what investigators were able to look into, and the disturbing allegations involving satanic ritual activity that followed.
Mike also shares his firsthand experience on September 11th, when he went into the World Trade Center to help evacuate people and survived the collapse.
We also discuss how these experiences affected Mike personally and spiritually, and why writing his new book ultimately brought him back to his Catholic faith.
Be sure to pre-order Mike’s new book, The Evil That Walked New York, where he goes much deeper into his conversations with Tiny, the Son of Sam connection, Etan Patz, and claims involving signs, symbols, powerful people and organizations that Mike first began hearing about decades ago.
WARNING: This episode contains discussion of missing children, murder, satanic ritual allegations, drug trafficking, violence, and the September 11th terrorist attacks. Some of the subject matter may be disturbing. Viewer and listener discretion is advised.
