The deep sea remains one of the least explored and developed parts of the planet. However, with increasing interest in the underwater world, this is now beginning to change. What economic opportunities lie beneath the waves? And how might we avoid repeating past mistakes made on land by managing this resource more sustainably? In this episode, Doug McCauley, professor of ocean science at the University of California Santa Barbara and director of the Benioff Ocean Initiative, joins Markus Müller, head of the Chief Investment Office at Deutsche Bank's International Private Bank, to discuss the commercial, social and environmental opportunities as well as some of the risks of deep sea management.
