Although Juneteenth is a relatively new federal holiday, it's been celebrated in Galveston since its beginning. Today, we're joined by Samuel Collins III, a 7th-generation Texan who works to educate people about the holiday and how monuments around the globe can benefit from incorporating Juneteenth's impact into the interpretation of their place-based heritage.
