Section 1

Continuing his teaching on attitude adjustments, Dr. Dave examines another biblical example of someone whose wrong thinking robbed him of God's blessings. In 1 Samuel 18:6–9, Israel celebrates David's victory over Goliath, singing that Saul defeated thousands while David defeated tens of thousands. Instead of rejoicing over God's tremendous victory, King Saul becomes jealous and suspicious. His resentment prevents him from enjoying what God accomplished for the entire nation. Dr. Dave connects Saul's reaction to the older brother who missed the prodigal son's celebration and Martha, who missed enjoying Jesus because she resented Mary's decision to sit at His feet. All three allowed selfish expectations to overshadow extraordinary blessings. Their experiences demonstrate how easily a wrong attitude can steal the joy God places before us.

Section 2

The solution appears in Philippians 2:5, where believers are instructed to have the same attitude or mindset as Christ Jesus. Dr. Dave explains that this involves deliberately working our minds toward Christlike thinking rather than surrendering to jealousy, resentment, or self-centered expectations. When someone else receives recognition, experiences victory, or enjoys God's favor, Christians should celebrate rather than complain about what they haven't received. The enemy attempts to plant thoughts of unfairness, but believers must confront those lies with God's truth. Instead of asking why someone else received a blessing, we should ask how Jesus would respond. His example provides the proper perspective for every relationship and circumstance. Our responsibility is to reject destructive thinking before it grows into an attitude that dishonors God and damages relationships.

Section 3

Drawing from Hebrews 12:2–3, Dr. Dave urges listeners to fix their eyes on Jesus, who endured the cross because of the joy set before Him. Christ's example reveals a mindset centered on serving rather than demanding recognition. Before becoming frustrated about unequal responsibilities, insufficient appreciation, or missed opportunities, believers should consider how Jesus would respond. He came not to be served but to serve, establishing the standard for His followers. Dr. Dave acknowledges that developing this attitude requires ongoing growth, but Philippians 4:13 reminds Christians that Christ supplies the necessary strength. Although believers already possess a wonderful spiritual position through God's grace, their daily conduct should increasingly reflect that reality. Becoming closer to the Lord, closer to one another, and better representatives of Jesus requires intentional changes in thinking. The right attitude begins when we stop measuring life by what we think we deserve and start viewing every circumstance through the mind and heart of Jesus Christ.
