Injured Doesn't Mean You Can't Train

Getting injured doesn't automatically mean you need to stop training. But for some reason, that's exactly what so many people believe.

In this episode, we're talking about the road back from injury, and why rehabilitation should be about so much more than simply getting out of pain.

We get into the language used around pain and injury, how easily people can be made to feel fragile or broken, and the psychological impact of being told there's something wrong with your body.

We also discuss what training through an injury can actually look like. From protecting and restoring movement to gradually rebuilding strength, conditioning, confidence and the physical capacity needed to return to the things you enjoy.

Whether you're a recreational runner, someone who enjoys lifting weights, a competitive athlete or simply trying to stay active, there's a lot to take away from this conversation.

We talk about how injuries can sometimes create opportunities to develop other physical qualities, why pain doesn't always equal damage, and why being pain-free isn't necessarily the same as being ready to perform again.

Ultimately, we're challenging the idea that being injured means putting your entire training life on hold.

Sometimes things need to change. Sometimes you need to pull back. Sometimes you need proper medical intervention.

But that doesn't mean everything has to stop.

The goal isn't just to get you out of pain. It's to get you back to doing the things you love, with the confidence and physical capacity to keep doing them.
