Traveling into southwest Arkansas, to a quiet town called Fouke, is a world of thick woods that swallow the sunlight, muddy creeks that twist like dark ribbons and hot summer nights when the air hangs heavy with humidity and every shadow seems to move.


For more than a hundred years, people in these bottoms have whispered about something tall and hairy that walks on two legs. Something with eyes that glow like hot coals. Something that leaves strange tracks in the soft mud and a smell that turns the stomach.


Was it a bear? A hoax? Or something that has always lived Within the Mists of Arkansas between the trees?
