Robert Pattinson Was Onto Something: Piggy, Humanist Vampire & Inhuman Kiss

Dela

This week on the Uncut Podcast, we return to genres uncut — although calling this one a “genre” might be a stretch… but since when has that ever stopped us? Okay, fine. It is technically a genre.

Rob is joined by Emma and Rabia to talk Teen Romance Horror Movies — but not just any old examples. We’re talking about films that make a complete mockery of the famously infamous Twilight saga. (Hated by its own cast is only the beginning of its sins.)

To show Stephanie Meyer how it’s really done, Rabia curated three films from around the world that take the teen‑horror‑romance formula and actually do something interesting with it. From Thailand, we have Sitisiri Mongkolsiri’s Krasue: Inhuman Kiss (2019). From Canada, Ariane Louis‑Seize’s inimitable Humanist Vampire Seeking Consenting Suicidal Person (2023). And rounding out our world‑cinema trio, Spain’s Carlota Pereda brings the ferocious Piggy (2022).

Next on the podcast is our annual FrightFest Review Special. And if you want something more traditional, you can support us on Patreon where you’ll get three bonus podcasts: Last Night, detailing our monthly viewing habits; Graham of Pop Screen’s gloriously chaotic Arts Hole; and my and Andy’s They’ll Love Me When I’m Dead, which this month dives into Spider‑Man in all his multiversal guises.
