The law is holy, just, and good — yet we are weak. Continuing Romans 7, Father Genard Lazar presses Paul's question: Has that which is good become death to me? Far be it. Sin works death through the commandment; the problem is not the law, but man's inability in the flesh.

The law functions like light. It exposes what was already present — Cain knew murder before "Thou shalt not kill" was written. Light does not create evil; evil flees the light. That is why some avoid Scripture and hard preaching: they do not want the character of their sin made plain. Adam dropped the ball. The race was sold into bondage. "The devil made me do it" will not stand before Christ, who crushed that weakling on the cross — your invitation to evil desire did it.

Paul knows the good, approves the good, desires the good — and still does what he hates. The law reveals sin but cannot give the final remedy. The remedy is confession, repentance, return to the Father, the Body and Blood of Christ, and the Church's absolution: go and sin no more. Hands on the plow — Scriptures, teachings, Eucharist, sacraments — fertilize the heart until the good seed bears the fruit of total repentance. Better to strive and suffer here than to die eternally without Him.

Key takeaways:
• The law is spiritual and good; weakness is in the flesh, not in the commandment
• Like light, the law exposes sin already present — it does not invent evil
• "The devil made me do it" is no excuse; our invitation to desire still bears accountability
• The law cannot save; remedy is repentance, Eucharist, and absolution in Christ's Church
