What is it REALLY like being married to a Navy SEAL? For former U.S. Navy sailor Ashley Rogers, life as a Navy SEAL wife was nothing like she imagined.
Urban Valor chats with Ashley as she reveals the hidden struggles of Navy SEAL marriages, the loneliness of military deployments, raising children while her husband was away, and the devastating discovery of infidelity that ultimately destroyed their marriage.
But Ashley's story began long before she became a Navy SEAL spouse.
Growing up surrounded by domestic violence, parental addiction, and instability, Ashley experienced things no child should ever have to witness. At just four years old, she watched her father hold a gun to her mother's head. Years later, she watched detectives raid her home and arrest her mother for selling drugs.
Desperate to escape the chaos, Ashley joined the United States Navy in 2013.
What followed was a journey through Navy boot camp, aircraft carrier deployments, life aboard the USS Ronald Reagan, USS George Washington, and USS Theodore Roosevelt, and eventually marriage to a Navy SEAL.
Ashley opens up about the realities of being a female sailor in a male-dominated environment, supporting her husband through Navy SEAL BUD/S training, the pressures of military marriage, and the sacrifices required of special operations families.
While raising two young children and building a career of her own, Ashley says her marriage slowly became emotionally disconnected. She later discovered an affair, learned of alleged additional infidelity, and found what she describes as forged separation documents.
The aftermath brought even more challenges, including legal disputes, harassment allegations, and the difficult process of rebuilding her life as a single mother.
Through it all, Ashley shares a powerful perspective on self-worth, accountability, resilience, and learning when it's time to walk away.
This is more than a story about Navy SEAL divorce or military relationships.
It's a firsthand account of a woman who grew up fighting to survive, built a life through military service, and ultimately found the strength to rebuild that life on her own terms.
