Between 1990 and 2002, ambulance workers in Łódź, Poland, conspired with local funeral homes in a gruesome scheme known as the "Skin Hunters" scandal, selling dead bodies for profit. When natural deaths were insufficient, paramedics and doctors began killing patients, often using the muscle relaxant Pavulon, which induced a torturous, silent death by suffocation. Although some perpetrators were convicted, authorities fear that hundreds more victims remain unidentified, and the full extent of the conspiracy is still shrouded in mystery.
