This week on The Reel Study, we’re kicking off Season 6 with a suspenseful double feature that puts two generations of filmmaking face-to-face, Cape Fear (1962) and Cape Fear (1991). From J. Lee Thompson’s classic thriller starring Gregory Peck and Robert Mitchum to Martin Scorsese’s intense reimagining featuring Robert De Niro and Nick Nolte, we’re exploring how two directors approached the same story decades apart.
Before the main discussion, catch up on The Reel News as the panel covers this week’s biggest movie headlines, including Resident Evil opens big as Spider-Man: Brand New Day Breaks Record, and Happy Death Day 3 story is ready, awaiting funding and World War Z 2 in the Works With Brad Pitt and Director Edward Berger.
Then check out Reel Roundup, where the panel shares their first-time watches. Whether it’s a brand-new release in theatres, a streaming debut, or an older film they’re finally catching up on. This week, AllTheMovieThings shares his spoiler-free thoughts on Resident Evil, JeannineDaBean reviews Optimus Prime Awakening, BlackGirlMarvel reviews Spider-Man Brand New Day and Mr. Snidbits shares his spoiler-free thoughts on The Devil Wears Prada 2.
Plus, don’t miss Collector’s Corner ,covering all things physical media, with upcoming releases for the following month, just in time to get those pre-orders in.
