In December 2023, Broomfield, Colorado police responded to a welfare check request from Dan Krug, worried he couldn't reach his wife Kristil. Officers found her bleeding out in the garage of the home she'd spent months trying to protect, the target of a stalking campaign that had escalated from cryptic texts to threats against her family. Kristil had done everything right: she filed police reports, hired a private investigator, bought a gun and carried it everywhere she went. The man she believed was terrorizing her, an ex-boyfriend from high school, had an airtight alibi. If he wasn't the one stalking her, someone much closer to home was watching all along.
