“Before Dawn” Execution: Indiana Executing Its First Inmate Of The Year While You Sleep

Indiana is set to execute its first inmate of the year “before sunrise” on November 5th, and if this is anything like the last three, Jeffrey Weisheit will likely be dead by 1 am. Weisheit was sentenced to death for burning his girlfriend’s children to death nearly 13 years ago: 8-year-old Alyssa and 5-year-old Caleb Lynch. Weisheit has exhausted all of his legal appeals, and despite a written plea by the children’s father to spare his life, he will be the first of three scheduled executions across the country on Thursday; both Florida and Alabama each plan to execute an inmate at 6 pm local time.
