The verbiage in the dialogue hardly represents the best of philosophical argument, but it is an excellent demonstration of the clash between various character types representing aspects of good or apparent good. The attempt is commendable, but not so clear-cut and fully elaborated as it is in Politeia (Republic), which for this and other reasons must be considered to be a later work.
