Welcome to Season 5 of #Divorce: Support Before, During and After.
After four seasons of conversations with lawyers, mediators, coaches, therapists, financial advisers and many other inspiring guests, I'm taking a moment to reflect on what this podcast, and family mediation have taught me.
September is often seen as a fresh start. Children return to school, routines begin again and many of us start thinking about what's next. As a family mediator, I've noticed that it's also a time when many families reach an important crossroads.
Perhaps you are questioning your relationship.
Perhaps you've recently separated and don't know where to begin.
Or perhaps you've been co-parenting for years, but your children have grown and your arrangements need to evolve.
In this episode, I introduce the idea of a "September Reset" and explain why mediation isn't just for couples who have already decided to separate. It's a space for difficult conversations, thoughtful decisions and healthier communication, whatever stage of your family journey you're in.
I'll also share what I've learnt from four seasons of podcasting, from the incredible guests who have joined us, and from the families I've had the privilege to support through mediation.
Whether you're listening because you're considering separation, navigating divorce or building a positive co-parenting relationship, I hope this episode leaves you with practical ideas, reassurance and hope for the next chapter.
Because September doesn't have to be the month you go to court. It can be the month you start talking again.
About your host
I'm your host, Sarah-Jane Tasteyre.
If we haven't met before, welcome!
I'm a family mediator, a French collaborative family lawyer, and a reflective supervisor for lawyers, based in Leeds in the UK. My journey has taken me from Paris to Hong Kong and Tokyo before settling in Yorkshire, and those international experiences have shaped the way I support families today.
For more than 20 years, I've worked with individuals and families facing some of life's biggest transitions. I specialise in cross-border family matters, helping international families navigate separation, divorce and probate with clarity, compassion and a focus on finding solutions outside the courtroom wherever possible.
As a mediator, I believe that while relationships may come to an end, families continue. My role is to help people have better conversations, make informed decisions and build a positive future, especially where children are involved.
This podcast was created to make trusted information accessible to everyone. Whether you're wondering if separation is the right decision, navigating divorce, learning to co-parent, or simply supporting someone you care about, my hope is that these conversations leave you feeling better informed, reassured and a little less alone.
Alongside my work in England, I continue to support French-speaking clients around the world and practise in Hong Kong with JC Legal, reflecting my passion for helping international families wherever they are.
I'd love to hear from you.
