In this Sunday morning message from Christ Fellowship Church, Pastor Marty Darracott continues the series on lordship with a powerful message titled “Leave It.”Beginning in Genesis 3, Pastor Marty examines the moment Adam and Eve stepped outside of God’s lordship. God gave humanity dominion, but He never gave humanity lordship. From the beginning, God established that while Adam and Eve could freely enjoy what He had provided, there was still a boundary that belonged to Him.Pastor Marty explains that lordship is not dictatorship built on rules and regulations—it is built on relationship. When Adam and Eve listened to the serpent and disobeyed God, their response was to hide, cover themselves, and attempt to conceal what had happened. Their broken lordship led to broken fellowship.The message then moves to Mark 11 and Jesus’ encounter with the fig tree. From a distance, the tree appeared healthy because it was covered with leaves, but when Jesus approached it, He found no fruit. Pastor Marty connects the fruitless fig tree with what Jesus encountered at the temple—a religious system that had the appearance of spirituality but lacked the fruit God desired.That same challenge applies to our lives today.We can have plenty of leaves—church attendance, ministry, success, careers, possessions, knowledge, platforms, and outward appearances—but Jesus is looking for fruit. Real fruit is demonstrated by how we treat people, how we obey God's Word, how we handle what He has entrusted to us, and whether Jesus truly has lordship over every area of our lives.Pastor Marty also addresses tithes and offerings as an issue of lordship, sharing his personal testimony of learning to trust God with his finances. The question is not simply what we are willing to give God, but whether we are willing to surrender everything to His authority and obey His Word.Throughout the message, Pastor Marty repeatedly returns to the question God asked Adam:“Who told you that?”Who told you that God is mad at you? Who told you that your circumstances can never change? Who told you that your past determines your future? Who told you that you have to continue living behind the things you've used to cover what is really happening inside?Instead of believing the whispers of the enemy, believers are challenged to come back under the lordship of Jesus and stand on what God has said.The message concludes with a powerful call to come out of hiding. Whether it is sin, a struggling marriage, success, finances, a career, or something else we've used as “fig leaves,” God is calling us to stop covering it and surrender it to Him.The same God Adam and Eve hid from was the God who came looking for them.Jesus Christ came to give us eternal life, restore our relationship with God, and produce genuine fruit through our lives.
