Welcome to Spiritual Sanctuary: Wisdom for the Divine Feminine with Bertena. In Week Two of our 15 Weeks of Yoga series, we explore what yoga means beyond the physical poses we often see in pictures.

Yoga can be so much more than stretching or moving on a mat. It can include breathwork, meditation, self-reflection, philosophy, and the ways we bring awareness and intention into everyday life. Whether you are new to yoga or have an established practice, there are many doorways into this ancient tradition.

In this episode, Bertena shares how yoga can meet us where we are, reminding us that we do not have to look a certain way, achieve a perfect pose, or practice in a specific position to begin exploring what yoga has to offer.

In This Episode, We Explore:

  • Yoga beyond physical poses: Discover how breath, meditation, attention, and philosophy can deepen your understanding of yoga.
  • Many doorways into practice: Explore how movement, spiritual inquiry, breathwork, and meditation can each become a starting point.
  • Inclusive and accessible yoga: Learn why yoga can be adapted to your needs, whether you practice standing, sitting in a chair, resting on the floor, or making gentle movements in bed.
  • Yoga in everyday life: Consider how pausing, practicing patience, and responding with intention can bring awareness beyond the yoga mat.
  • The eight limbs of yoga: Receive an introduction to the framework described in Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, including ethical reflection, posture, breath practices, concentration, meditation, and more.
  • Letting your practice evolve: Give yourself permission to discover different aspects of yoga as your needs, interests, and life circumstances change.

Your Reflection Practice

Take a few quiet moments to reflect on your relationship with yoga.

Ask yourself:

  • What first made me curious about yoga? Was it movement, stress relief, meditation, spirituality, or something else?
  • What would I like to learn about yoga next?
  • What do I want yoga to mean in my life right now?

You do not need to create a big plan or have all the answers. Simply allow yourself to be curious. If it feels helpful, write down one sentence about what you hope to discover.
