I hike the Wall Street Mill Trail in Joshua Tree National Park, exploring homestead ruins, old vehicles, and the mining operation that shaped the area. I then head to the Barker Dam Trail to look at desert ecology, water in a dry landscape, and petroglyphs, ending with a few reminders about protecting what we come to see.
