Thyroid problems are on the rise — and a new study suggests prenatal WiFi exposure might be part of the reason.
Turkish researchers exposed pregnant rats to WiFi-frequency radiation throughout pregnancy, then examined their offspring's thyroid glands one full year after birth. What they found was significant: thyroid damage including increased cell death, DNA breaks, and tissue scarring that persisted long after the exposure ended. The exposure level used was well within the range of what pregnant women experience from everyday WiFi use and smartphones.
