On Naruto’s birthday at NYCC 2026, the “NARUTO: What’s Next?” panel rolled out a string of franchise updates. These included a new limited anime series — a crossover with Ninku (the series that inspired Kishimoto), supervised by both creators, following Team 7 into that world and directed by Noriyuki Abe. There were also details on the Naruto Card Game (June 2027 worldwide launch with starter decks and a first booster), a worldwide release confirmation plus teaser for Naruto Mobile, a message from live-action director Destin Daniel Cretton, and a broader “Project Rasengan” roadmap for the next few yearsThen, right at the end of the panel, came the surprise: Masashi Kishimoto is launching a brand-new Naruto manga titled Shadow Rising (or Naruto: Shadow Rising). It was revealed through a teaser video, with full details promised for Jump Festa 2027 in December.
