Have you ever noticed how quickly good intentions can turn into painful outcomes when God is not honoured as He deserves? How something that begins with joy, unity, and celebration can suddenly collapse under the weight of careless attitude or worship?
That’s exactly what happens in 1 Chronicles chapter 13.
David has just become king. The nation is united. The mighty men have gathered. The tribes have pledged loyalty. Joy is rising in Israel like the dawn of a new day. And David’s first great desire is a noble one: to bring the ark of God back into the centre of Israel’s life. It’s a beautiful desire. It’s a holy desire. It’s the right desire.
But in this chapter, we discover something sobering: A right desire carried out in the wrong way can lead to disaster.
