mattie mae is a progressive bible scholar with a masters of divinity, and she is currently a PhD candidate in gender, sexuality, and masculinity in the New Testament. she is from the deep south, where she grew up as a pastor + bible professor’s daughter. in college, she began to deconstruct her southern baptist upbringing while also coming to terms with her queerness. she is married to her middle school sweetheart, and she is the mother of a spunky four-year-old.
