In this midweek episode of Need Some Introduction, Darren and I focus on the huge box-office phenomenon of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, our experiences seeing it in packed theaters, and how much we enjoyed (and debated) its direction, action, and MCU setup, including impressions of the Punisher and improved 3D/ScreenX presentation. We rank the Spider-Man films, with both of us landing on Into the Spider-Verse as our overall favorite, while disagreeing on several MCU entries and where Brand New Day belongs. In the spoiler section, we discuss the major reveal that the body-jumping antagonist is Jean Grey, what that implies for Marvel’s future and X-Men integration, and standout emotional beats near the ending. We also recap Lucky episode 5—its grief themes, plot turns involving Rand, Priscilla, and early prison releases—while noting recurring plausibility issues, and briefly touch on Furious, Ted Lasso’s return, and a few recent movies.
