SHOW SUMMARY:
Rock isn’t quiet, it’s just waiting for the right band to turn it back up. We sit down with James Bartholomew and Tyler Arrowsmith from UK rock band Jayler to talk about how a young group can channel a 60s and 70s classic rock vibe without feeling like a tribute act, and why the performance element of rock matters as much as the notes. From stage outfits to big riffs to that sense of atmosphere, they’re chasing the part of rock and roll that makes a room feel alive.

We get into the real building blocks behind their sound: family influences, deep listening on vinyl, falling down the rabbit hole from Bob Dylan and John Denver to Zeppelin, Sabbath, Pink Floyd, and the blues. They share what it’s like leveling up through open mics and jam nights, how they balance musical ambition with the reality of short support sets, and what they learn from sharing stages with legends like Sammy Hagar and soon Deep Purple. You’ll also hear how fans in places like Brazil can turn a song into a shared moment by singing it right back.

Then we zoom in on the songwriting and the Voices Unheard album, including the wild evolution of “Down Below,” which started as a slide riff and gained a key section from a live jam when the band had extra festival time to fill. If you love modern classic rock, UK rock bands, guitar-driven music, and behind-the-scenes touring stories, this one delivers. Subscribe, share this with a rock fan, and leave a review so more listeners can find the show.
