Today’s featured artist is Brooke Weston. She has been featured in some of the coolest places around LA, and Galleries across the US. La Luz de Jesus, Monsterpalooza & The Mystic Museum to name a few.  She uses two of my favorite mediums, taxidermy and miniatures. She creates tiny worlds within the concaves of damaged, abandoned, disheveled taxidermy pieces that have probably existed as long as she has. These vintage taxidermy pieces are given a new purpose, recycled into art. Pieces that would have otherwise become trash. She repairs and mends them so they can become a literal home for her vision. Did you know taxidermy was hollow? Well it is...and Brooke fills that space with creativity and wonder. Some folks think her work is creepy, weird, odd...some are repulsed...I saw her work making it’s rounds in miniature communities on social media and not without its controversy, but as with all art, if you keep looking and if you meet the artist, sometimes it helps to understand more about the world and even more about topics that are a little triggering for you. I saw her work and was immediately transported to her magical tiny world. Interpretation is always up to the audience no matter how the artist feels. Let’s meet brook now.
