This week I caught up with some of my favourite babes from my Melanin Kweens class to discuss the importance and need for BPOC spaces in studios and the wider pole industry. We also share some of the reasons why we feel more comfortable in Black spaces and how they not only give us a sense of worth, pride and joy, but they are also helping us to gain the confidence to introduce ourselves in spaces we had once felt less comfortable or welcomed in. I was entirely bonnet shamed as I revealed that I don't own a luxury, silk bonnet and I'll never get over the top-tier hateration.
