It’s a Thursday afternoon.
You open your planner and there it is again—the thing you said you’d do Monday.
Monday got full.Tuesday somebody needed something.Wednesday got away from you.
Now it’s Thursday, and if we’re honest, you’re already thinking: Maybe next week.
It’s not that it doesn’t matter.
You keep saying it does.
But somehow it keeps getting a:
Not now.
And sometimes not now is exactly the faithful answer. Because everything can matter without everything being for right now.
But what about the thing that keeps getting a not now?
That’s a different question.
Consider Your Ways
High-capacity women can be especially prone to this.
You can carry a lot.
So you keep the meeting. Respond to the client. Handle the problem. Take care of what someone else is waiting on.
Meanwhile, the thing without the deadline quietly moves to tomorrow.
Then Friday.
Then next week.
But here’s the distinction I’ve been thinking about:
“I can” is a capacity statement.“Should I?” is a stewardship question.
And stewardship doesn’t begin with What matters to me?
It begins with God:
What has He actually entrusted to me to faithfully steward in this season?
There’s a fascinating moment in Haggai 1 where God’s people had been given something very specific to do: rebuild the temple.
Yet their refrain had become:
“The time has not yet come…”
Not never.
Not now.
And God’s response through Haggai was:
“Consider your ways.”
There’s important context here. Your business project isn’t the temple. Your workout isn’t the temple. Something being important to you doesn’t make it a command from God.
But Haggai raises a question worth considering:
Could I be continually saying “not now” to something God has given me to steward, while finding plenty of “now” for other legitimate things?
That’s where this week’s conversation goes—and there’s a part later in Haggai 1 that keeps this from becoming another try harder and get your priorities straight message.
It’s actually my favorite part.

A God-Led Yes Still Needs a Place
Here’s something you can practice before you even listen:
Look at one thing you’ve continually been moving forward.
Don’t immediately squeeze it into tomorrow.
First ask:
Is this actually mine to steward in this season?
If the answer is no—or not now—release it.
But if, through Scripture, prayer and wisdom, you discern that the answer is yes, there’s another question:
Where will I give this faithful yes a place?
Because good intentions don’t create time.
And discernment isn’t meant to end with this matters.
A God-led yes still needs a place to live.
Not every minute accounted for. Not a rigid schedule you have to serve.
A faithful place in the actual time God has entrusted to you.
If you’re not sure what’s actually yours...
That’s exactly where I’d have you start.
The free REDEEM Her Time Starter Kit will help you begin with God, discern what deserves your yes today, and give those priorities a place using the five Time Anchor Zones.
You’ll also become a free REDEEM Her Time subscriber, so we can keep practicing this together each week.
Ready to Practice Your Faithful Yes?
Knowing what is yours is one thing.
Living it when real life starts competing for that time is another.
That’s exactly what we’re practicing beginning Tuesday, September 15, in 30 Faithful inside Stewardship Circle.
Not 30 new things to do.
One faithful yes.
Discerned with God.Given a place.Practiced in real life.
And when the plan changes?
You don’t fall behind.
You learn to return.
30 Faithful is the only 30-day challenge you can’t fall behind in.
And if you’re finding this after September 15, don’t wait for another clean starting line.
You’re not behind. Come join us and start right where you are.
For today, consider your ways:
What keeps getting your “not now”?
Bring it before God.
Is this actually mine to steward?
And if it is:
When will I give it a place?
Time is sacred. Stewardship is strategic.
