In 1996, sixteen year old Rod Ferrell led a small group of teenagers who embraced vampire identities, drank one another’s blood and carved symbols into their bodies. But when the group travelled from Kentucky to Florida to collect fifteen year old Heather Wendorf, their planned escape to New Orleans took a devastating turn. Heather’s parents, Richard and Ruth Wendorf, were found brutally beaten to death inside their Eustis home, while their youngest daughter had disappeared along with Rod and his friends. The investigation that followed soon exposed a disturbing world of blood rituals, animal killings and teenage obsession, while raising a much darker question about where fantasy ended and real violence began.
