From Trauma to Transformation: Healing Young Lives-The Science of Resilience in Juvenile Justice

Dela

What happens when we teach resilience as a pathway to healing for incarcerated youth? In this compelling episode of Resiliency Within, Dr. Ingrid Duva and Dr. Linda Grabbe share the findings from their research on the Community Resiliency Model (CRM) with the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice. Conducted in partnership with the Georgia Preparatory Academy and the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice, this study explored how an innovative program introducing body-based resilience skills helps young people better regulate anger, increase emotional awareness, and promotes healthier ways of responding to stress and adversity. Beyond the promising research findings, our guests discuss the practical lessons learned, the importance of system-wide collaboration, and how empowering youth with resilience skills may not only change individual lives but also contribute to safer communities and brighter futures.
