Your driver doesn’t need a miracle, it needs better math and better priorities. We’re winding down the season and swapping stories from some banger golf trips, but the real mission is what every golfer wants: more clubhead speed, more ball speed, and more carry that actually holds up on the course. Along the way we hit the distance debate, why classic course design still punishes the wrong choice, and why “famous tour venue” doesn’t automatically mean “best round of your life.”
Then we get nerdy in the best way. We talk through the revamped Measured Golf lab, including flush-mounted force plates, a more open indoor hitting bay, and Trackman’s markerless 3D motion capture. When you can see the kinetic sequence and kinematic sequence together, plus video from multiple angles, you stop guessing about power leaks and start finding the real bottleneck.
The core coaching takeaway is our “four knobs” for distance. First, centered contact and smash factor, because hitting the sweet spot can add ball speed faster than most speed training programs. Second, spin loft and launch optimization, including what attack angle and dynamic loft are doing to your distance. Third, sequencing efficiency, where pelvis-first timing and better segment transfer can create speed that feels easier. Fourth, screening and conceptual fit, because physical limits and trendy swing ideas can push golfers into early extension and worse contact.
If you’re serious about offseason golf training and want a plan that blends technique, biomechanics, and measurable data, this is your roadmap. Subscribe, share the episode with a golf buddy, and leave a review, then message us with the speed topic you want next.
