Robin Graham was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, and for 25 years she has given incarcerated writers a place to tell the truth. As founder and publisher of Spotlight on Recovery Magazine, she has grown a newsletter at a treatment facility into a publication featuring more than 400 writers in prisons and mental health institutions across 34 states.

In this conversation with host Eldra Jackson III, Robin shares how her own trauma shaped the magazine, why she writes openly about her bipolar disorder diagnosis in her 50s, and what happens when people inside see their words in print for the first time. She also talks about identity, the masks we wear, and breaking free from what she calls the spin cycle of mental incarceration.
