The Lantern Festival, also known as the Yuan Xiao Festival, falls on the 15th day of the first month in the lunar calendar. It celebrates the first full moon of a new year. On this day, people usually eat glutinous sweet rice balls (yuan xiao), make lanterns with riddles on them, and guess the answers to the riddles.
