As the feast of All Saints on 1 November draws near, Helena is joined by Claire Fernandes to explore how families, parishes and schools can celebrate the saints, our heavenly family who cheer us on in holiness. Claire is a member of the Centre for Catholic Education, Research and Religious Literacy at the university. She recently presented at the Southwark Archdiocese Headteachers Conference (2024) and Mark 10 Mission (2024), and published an article on “Learning in the RED curriculum through sensory materials” in The Pastoral Review (2025). She is a trustee of the Catholic CW provider Mark 10 Mission, has served as a foundation governor at a Catholic primary school in the Diocese of Arundel and Brighton, and represents the CELEBRATE Trust within marriage and family life for the Bishops of England and Wales, writing resources that support family catechesis.
Together, Helena and Claire share practical ideas for marking All Saints at home, in the parish and in the classroom, including alternatives to Halloween such as a Festival of Light.
Free resource: Walking with the Saints
The CELEBRATE Trust has created a brand-new family pack to help you celebrate All Saints and keep walking with the saints all year round. Packed with simple ideas to help children get to know the saints, it is ideal for parish children’s liturgy, family groups and Catholic primary schools. It is completely free to download, so please share it with your parish priest, catechists and school staff. Tune in to Culture Tuesday on Radio Maria UK at 9am and 9pm.
Please consider supporting us with a one-off or monthly donation. It is only through the generosity of our listeners that we are able to be a Christian voice by your side.
