This video essay examines the unsettling, dissociated facial expressions Musk made during his stint as Trump's chief buddy at the White House and Mar-a-Lago — and what they reveal about a crisis the materialist worldview can't explain.
When Musk fed USAID into "the wood chipper," Bill Gates told the Financial Times: "the picture of the world's richest man killing the world's poorest children is not a pretty one." Musk was unmoved. He had already gone on Joe Rogan to declare that "the fundamental weakness of Western civilization is empathy" — borrowing the Canadian marketing professor Gad Saad's notion of "suicidal empathy."

Drawing on the cultural philosopher William Irwin Thompson, the analytic idealist Bernardo Kastrup, the sociologist Peter Berger, and the 2022 and 2025 Nobel Prizes in Physics — which together overturn the materialist paradigm at its foundations — this essay asks whether what we are seeing is what older traditions accurately called demonic possession, and what it means for understanding our techno-fascist moment.
