Being caring, intuitive and a naturally good listener can give you a wonderful foundation for coaching. But none of those things, on their own, make someone a great coach. So what actually does?
In this episode of The Mindset Coach Podcast, I explore the skills that sit beneath exceptional coaching, from presence, active listening and ethical judgement to curiosity, challenge, self-awareness and a deeper understanding of mindset and human change. I also look at what develops as coaches move from ACC foundations towards PCC-level refinement, why frameworks should support rather than control the conversation, and how our own need to help can sometimes get in the way of the client.
Because great coaching is not about knowing the most techniques or having the cleverest questions. It is about developing the judgement to know when to ask, when to challenge, when to stay silent and when to step back, while creating the conditions for the client to think, choose and create meaningful change for themselves.
